What Is Inner Healing
Educate, Mentor, Encourage, Equip & Empower Women fulfill God's Plan & Purpose in their lives.
Simply put Inner Healing is the process of binding the broken hearts, renewing our minds and transforming our souls. When we accepted Christ as our savior we became new creatures ( our spirit is regenerated), according to Paul in Corinthians 5:17. Therefore if any person is [ingrafted] in Christ (the Messiah) he is a new creation (a new creature altogether); the old [previous moral and spiritual condition] has passed away. Behold, the fresh and new has come! (AMP) and yet Paul also told us that we should renew our mind, Romans 12:1-2
Inner Healing is the closing of the spiritual doors that we have opened in our lives (either Self-inflicted, Acquired or Inherited). Deliverance is the casting away of the unclean spirits that have access to our lives, physically, spiritually, emotionally, and financially, because of those opened doors.
It is process of engaging the help of the Holy Spirit, the Word of God, prayer, to help achieve forgiveness, repentance, rejecting lies of the enemy and replacing them with truth, and processing painful memories to bring full and complete emotional and spiritual healing. And closing doors opened to the enemy. It is the healing of the INNER MAN.
(What is the inner man?).
Inner healing is one of the most vital and important areas of deliverance ministry that we cannot overlook. While it is important to cast out demons, it is just as important, if not more important, to minister to the inner man to heal emotional wounds. Emotional wounds are one of the most common reasons that deliverances can fail, or demons seem to keep coming back and regaining inhabitation within the person. I need to make it clear that if you are going to be in the deliverance ministry, it is an absolute necessity that you learn about emotional wounds and how to bring the person to the point where they can receive inner healing from the Holy Spirit.
We can be confident that God desires us to be spiritually, physically, and mentally or emotionally free. Here’s what—Jesus said in Luke 4:18-19—Isaiah 61:1–4, says
“The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because the Lord has anointed Me to preach good tidings to the poor; he sent Me to heal the broken hearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and opening of the prison to those who are bound; to proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all who mourn, to console those who mourn in Zion, to give them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they may be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the Lord, that He may be glorified. And they shall rebuild the old ruins, they shall raise up the former desolations, and they shall repair the ruined cities, the desolations of many generations.” (Is 61:1-4)
“He reveals deep and secret things; He knows what is in the darkness, and light dwells in Him.” (Daniel 2:22)
A) The renewing of your mind takes place in two ways:
• By the washing of the water of the Word through having our mind bathed and saturated in the Word of God.
• By the inner healing and restoration of the soul and the deliverance from anything to which the believer is held captive.
B) The healing of your spirit by the Holy Spirit involves three main areas:
• Healing of the memories – Binding up the broken hearted, setting at liberty those that are bruised.
• Deliverance – Proclaiming deliverance to captives, the opening of prisons to those who are bound.
• Breaking and renouncing of curses which are passed down from generation to generation – Raising up the former devastations, repairing the desolation of generations.
People who are mentally healthy do bury unpleasant memories but will go through their lives reacting to certain situations and not realize why. Deep in the mind is buried memories that is distasteful which brings the reaction. Everyone has a reason for reacting the way he/she does. If we allow it, the Holy Spirit can bring these memories to the surface so that they can be healed.
Our wounds have a symptom – PAIN. If we are to be healed of the wounds, we must change. Change can turn to spiritual growth.
Healing of the wounded spirit produces a different type of person. As a person moves into transparency of the soul, into maturity of the Spirit, as the inner lake is cleaned and the old wounds and hurts are healed, the discontentment fades away and life with God here on earth grows more meaningful.
To the person who has experienced healing, the world itself grows more beautiful, friends are friendlier, loved ones more precious, life more abundant, and he sees the face of God in every dew drop and hears His voice in every murmur of the breeze.
The purpose of the Holy Spirit is to show us how to live every day to its fullest, to usher us into the kingdom of God right here on earth. There is no need to wait until we die to experience the joy, bliss and security of heaven.
God has saved us through Jesus Christ and made us His children (John 1:12). Jesus Christ intercedes on behalf of believers as our perfect High Priest (Hebrews 4:14–16), and the Holy Spirit is always with us as our Comforter (John 14:16–17). When we understand the incredible truths within the Bible and the promises God has given us, we can bring them to mind in the midst of difficult times.
The best way to achieve a greater level of emotional freedom is to focus on God Himself and the healing He can bring and has provided through Jesus.
Inner healing requires being honest with yourself about your feelings and personal experiences and then taking those things to God, seeking His answers and healing. Sometimes we can arrive at this place of inner healing and freedom on our own through studying God's Word and listening to His voice. Other times it is beneficial and necessary to seek additional professional help, such as through a Deliverance Minister or Christian Counselor.
Our goal is not to forget a hurtful event or trauma, but to receive healing from that event, where the Holy Spirit removes the stinger from it. When we look back upon a healed wound, we can see it in a different way, because it has been healed and is no longer painful to look back upon.
Identifying emotional wounds
The first thing we need to do is identify the problem by identifying common symptoms and then realize you need for inner healing.
Be honest with yourself!
If you had a headache, would you go to the doctor and tell him, “There’s something wrong with me, but I don’t want to think about it long enough to figure out what it is! I don’t know what’s wrong with me! I don’t know if it’s a headache, a stomachache, a runny nose, or an ingrown toenail!” You would never do that when seeking physical healing, would you? Then why do we so often do this very thing when we are seeking inner healing? We know that there’s a problem, a wound, but we don’t want to even peek into our pasts to figure out what is really wrong! If you’re going to receive healing for an emotional wound, you need to first be honest with yourself and what has happened.
Discover the root-cause
It is vital that we get right down to the roots and lay out the specific reasons why there are wounds that have not yet healed. Spiritual infections, like natural infections, will fester and grow worse when in the dark; it is important to bring the issues to the light, so they can no longer fester, but receive the healing light of Christ into those areas of the mind and emotions. If you cannot be honest with yourself, and bring these things out into the light, then you’re only hindering the healing power of the Holy Spirit from ministering to those wounds and bringing about healing in your mind and emotions.
Inner healing is all about setting the captives free. And that’s one our ministries - Destiny Women’s Deliverance and Counseling Ministry.
